Working toward your dream body can be a rewarding experience. You look in the mirror and your results show a new you slowly starting to appear before your eyes. But on the flip side, it can be downright frustrating when stubborn pockets of fat and tissue refuse to melt away despite your laborious efforts.
That is why in 1976, the father and son plastic surgery team Arpad and Giorgio Fischer created liposuction for the outer thighs. And a year later, with great success, French plastic surgeons Illouz and Fournier developed a way to extend the use to the whole body.
You can’t always have your own body shape, but you can have what you want. So, let’s review what you can expect from modern liposuction or lipo to see if it’s the right choice for you to finally attain the physique you have envisioned.
Liposuction In Dubai
Liposuction in Dubai is a popular body contouring procedure that removes stubborn fat from the abdomen, thighs, and arms. For beginners, it’s important to understand that liposuction is a shaping treatment rather than a weight loss method. With proper consultation, modern techniques, and aftercare, patients can achieve smoother body contours, increased confidence, and long-lasting, natural-looking results.
What Is Liposuction?
Liposuction is, in short, a body sculpting surgery for the removal of excess fat that is resistant to diet and exercise, even with a lot of effort. Getting fat is easy, but getting it off certain parts of your body can be downright impossible. This could be due to genetics, estrogen/hormone levels, age or unknown reasons.
Lipo of any kind goes after subcutaneous fat exactly where it is with a cannula, a small stainless steel tube put through an incision in the skin. The fat is separated from the outside tissue and loosened for removal. It then is pulled up the cannula, a long, flexible plastic tube, into a vacuum pump and receptacle for storage and disposal.
While that’s the gist of it, a few types of lipos differ by slight variations in the extraction process, which offer various benefits. We’ll go into detail below.
Types Of Liposuction
There are several types of liposuction methods developed by modern science. These are the most common types you will see in your research.
Traditional Liposuction
This is the most common form of lipo. It’s a simple process in that your plastic surgeon performs the surgery as described above and it is done under general anesthesia.
Traditional liposuction is one of the least precise methods, so it’s great for larger areas such as your bottom, thighs, legs, abdomen, back or arms, but it’s not recommended for small or delicate areas such as your chin or neck.
This tried and true procedure is the least expensive type of liposuction, but many people will have several treatments to achieve their fully desired results. There is a possibility for more bleeding and bruising than any other type of liposuction if not performed by an experienced board certified plastic surgeon. There is also the possibility of a higher rate of dimpling or other flaws.
Tumescent Liposuction
Tumescent liposuction is similar to traditional liposuction, but the fat cells are swollen with lidocaine and epinephrine, making them easier to remove through the cannula that is inserted into small incisions. This is often considered the gold standard in traditional liposuction.
Tumescent liposuction is done in the same areas as traditional liposuction but it minimizes bleeding and bruising and is one of the least expensive options for fat removal.
Laser-Assisted Liposuction
Laser assisted liposuction is just what it sounds like – a laser is used to help break up fat cells through the suction cannula. The start is like a traditional lipo with anesthesia, small incisions where the fat removal is desired, then the cannula and laser probe are inserted.
Lasers turn the fat into liquid oil. Any liquefied fat that is not suctioned through the cannula is absorbed by the body over time. The laser is very small so a small cannula is all that is needed. This means this type of lipo is done through smaller incisions that heal quickly with no scars for most patients.
Lasers are small and easy to control which makes this type of liposuction a precise option. Your surgeon can refine the most natural results on any part of your body, even your face, neck and chin. Laser-assisted lipo offers numerous benefits, with many patients reporting that their skin becomes tighter, unlike traditional lipo, which can lead to sagging skin.
Ultrasound-Assisted Liposuction
This type of liposuction may be performed in conjunction with traditional liposuction. The high-frequency ultrasound waves create energy in the tissue that is targeted, breaking down fat cells to make them easier to remove.
The most common uses of ultrasound-assisted liposuction are areas of tougher fat such as the back, the sides of the hips or “saddlebag” areas, as well as the male chest where traditional lipo is more difficult to do. You can use this lipo safely to take a larger volume of fat.
Smart Lipo
SmartLipo is another laser procedure, but unlike traditional laser assisted liposuction, it uses two frequencies. It’s an exciting feature as one liquefies the fat and the other one tightens the tissues and skin in the area and stimulates collagen production—it’s like two sculpting procedures in one.
Smart Lipo is also the most precise liposuction on the market, so you can get sculpting in any area of your body including your face and expect a tighter and smoother result. The results of Smart Lipo are much faster. Many people only require one treatment. It also has the fastest recovery time of any liposuction.

Is Lipo Safe?
Liposuction is a safe procedure and is among the top six cosmetic surgeries performed on men and women in Dubai. According to statista, there were almost a half million performed in one form or another in 2023.
Does Liposuction Work?
Yes! One of the most performed plastic surgeries is liposuction and for good reason. Results are visible and can be dramatic to subtle. The amount of fat that can be removed by liposuction is generally around 6000 ml or 12lbs maximum. You can expect to lose approximately an inch for every 6 lbs of fat lost.
As with any procedure, this will vary from case to case and your surgeon will discuss what you can expect personally but of course no guarantees can be promised when it comes to cosmetic treatments.
Is Liposuction Painful?
In most types of lipo, you’ll be under anesthesia when you have the surgery and shouldn’t feel any pain or discomfort. All other procedures are done with local anesthesia.
You will experience some mild soreness during the post-surgery recovery period, which can be easily controlled with pain medication that your surgeon prescribes or recommends.
Recovery After Lipo
Most lipo procedures require a five – thirteen week recovery period depending on the extent of your surgery and how you heal. The full results are confirmed at the point of seven months.
Most patients are back to work and their usual activities within a few days. Stay away from heavy lifting or exercise for the first 3 weeks, maybe longer, depending on your situation.
Smart Lipo recovery time is the shortest, with most patients missing only two to three days of work and returning to other more vigorous activities sooner.
How Long Does Liposuction Last?
The results of lipo can be permanent. This depends a lot on how much you commit to taking care of your health in the months and years after your surgery. The fat cells that have been removed do not regenerate and will not grow back in the area where liposuction has been performed.
But you can get fat cells in other parts of your body where lipo wasn’t done. Keep slim and healthy with good diet and exercise.
Noninvasive Options For Body Sculpting
If the thought of surgery isn’t for you, consider noninvasive body contouring. These techniques are performed in the clinic setting with only local anesthesia and provide skin tightening and fat removal of smaller areas.
Perfect Doctors Clinic provides CoolSculpting and EndyMed options for sculpting and contouring your body without invasive surgery.

How Much Does Liposuction Cost?
The type of procedure you choose and how long you are in surgery are factors that will influence the cost of your liposuction. During your first appointment, you’ll discuss the extent of your needs. If you decide to add a tummy tuck or mommy makeover procedure at the same time, that is a factor in your final price.
Costs may also depend on where your surgery is performed, how many staff members are needed for surgical and nursing support, anesthesia fees and all of the prep and post-op care. Schedule a consultation with board-certified Dr. Perfect Celebrity to learn what is possible and to find out what your costs will be for your liposuction.
Will Insurance Help Cover The Costs Of Liposuction?
Perfect Doctors Clinic does not participate in any insurance plans at this time. Most insurance carriers consider liposuction surgeries to be elective cosmetic procedures and will not cover them. And be sure to call yours to verify the possibility of your eligibility for reimbursements on any portion.
