A lot of our patients at the Perfect Doctors Clinic say the same thing after they get better: “I wish I had done this sooner.” But we know that it takes time and a lot of questions to decide to go through with the surgery.
Today, we’re posting a Q&A interview with a 31-year-old man from Dubai, who had gynecomastia surgery after being unhappy with the way his chest looked for years. His answers cover everything, from how he decided what it was like to recover.
Let’s hear from him directly as he answers some of the questions we get the most.
Gynecomastia Surgery In Dubai
Gynecomastia Surgery in Dubai is a cosmetic procedure designed to reduce excess male breast tissue and create a flatter, firmer, and more masculine chest contour. It is commonly performed on men who experience enlarged breasts due to hormonal imbalance, genetics, weight fluctuations, or certain medications. The procedure typically involves the removal of glandular tissue, excess fat, and in some cases, loose skin to achieve a more defined chest shape. Depending on the severity of the condition, the surgeon may use liposuction, surgical excision, or a combination of both techniques. The surgery is usually performed under local or general anesthesia and is considered safe when carried out by a qualified professional. The results are long-lasting, helping improve self-confidence, posture, clothing fit, and overall body image.
Why Did You Decide To Get Gynecomastia Surgery?
I thought I just needed to lose weight for most of my 21s. I worked out a lot and ate healthily, but the puffiness in my chest never went away. I felt self-conscious no matter what I wore, especially in the summer.
I finally understood that this wasn’t just fat. That’s when I started looking into gynecomastia and found out that it’s really a problem with too much glandular tissue. Surgery started to seem like a real answer once I got that.
How Long Did You Think About It Before Booking A Consultation?
To be honest, a few years. I kept hoping that more exercise or supplements would make it go away. But nothing worked.
After seeing a friend’s post about his own surgery, I finally made an appointment at the Perfect Doctors Clinic. That was the last thing I needed to do.
What Was Your Consultation Like?
Very easy. I didn’t know what to expect, but I felt at ease right away.
The surgeon told me everything, like what causes gynecomastia, how the surgery works, and what kind of results I could expect based on my body type. They also checked my body to see if I had gland tissue, fat, or both.
They showed me pictures of patients with similar body types before and after treatment, which helped me picture what was possible.
Were You Nervous Before the Procedure?
A little, but not in a bad way. It was more exciting than scary.
I felt ready for surgery day because the team walked me through every step. I was most worried about the scar, but when I saw where the cuts would be (around the areola), I knew it would heal without anyone noticing.
Can You Walk Us Through The Surgery Day?
Of course. I got there early in the morning, and everything went well. They marked my chest, went over the plan again, and then I went to sleep.
It only took less than two hours. I woke up feeling groggy but not in pain. It just felt tight across my chest. Later that afternoon, I was home.
What Was Recovery Like In The First Few Days?
The first two days were the hardest. I was in pain and had to move slowly, but I didn’t need strong painkillers. I only needed Tylenol.
I wore a vest that compressed all day and night. It helped with the swelling and made me feel safe, especially when I was moving around.
I felt good enough to go for short walks by the third day. I still couldn’t lift anything or raise my arms very high.

When Did You Start To See Results?
I noticed a difference almost immediately, even though there was still swelling after the surgery. The first time I looked in the mirror, I could already see that my chest appeared flatter and more contoured. That initial glimpse alone was incredibly reassuring. Even with bandages and mild swelling, I could tell that the excess fullness I had struggled with for years was finally gone.
Of course, right after surgery, your body is still healing. Swelling, slight bruising, and tightness are completely normal in the first few days. I reminded myself that what I was seeing wasn’t the final result yet. Still, the overall improvement was clear from day one, which gave me a huge confidence boost.
After about a week, the swelling had reduced enough for me to better appreciate the new shape of my chest. The contour looked more natural, and my shirts fit differently, in a good way. As the weeks passed, the results continued to refine and improve. But honestly, seeing that immediate change right after surgery was a powerful moment. It made me feel relieved, excited, and much more confident about my decision.
How Long Did It Take To Feel “Normal” Again?
Three weeks or so. I was back to work (remotely) in five days, but it took me about three weeks to sleep well and move around without being extra careful.
I was given the go-ahead for light upper-body workouts after six weeks. I was back to full training by the eighth week.
What Has Changed For You Since The Surgery?
A lot. I can wear whatever I want now, even just one T-shirt with no layers. I don’t worry when I go to the beach. I don’t always pull my shirt down or avoid certain angles in pictures.
Most of all, I feel like I finally look like I’m supposed to. My body looks like the work I’ve done for years.
What Do You Wish You Had Known Earlier?
A few things:
- You don’t have to live with this: I thought it was something I had to deal with. No, it’s not.
- You might think surgery is more intense than it is: It’s outpatient, and if you follow the instructions, recovery is easy.
- You’re not the only one: A lot of guys go through this. After I talked about it, I learned that some of my friends had thought about having surgery as well.
- The results are permanent: This isn’t a quick fix. It doesn’t come back once the gland is gone.
I wish I had gone to a doctor sooner instead of trying to fix it myself.
What Advice Would You Give Someone Considering Gynecomastia Surgery?
Honestly, my biggest advice is don’t wait as long as I did. If you find yourself thinking about your chest every single day, avoiding certain clothes, skipping swimming, layering shirts even in hot weather, or feeling uncomfortable in social situations, that’s already a sign it’s affecting your quality of life. I kept telling myself it wasn’t a big deal, but deep down, it was impacting my confidence more than I admitted.
The most important step is simply booking a consultation. You don’t have to commit to surgery right away. A consultation is just a conversation, a chance to understand what gynecomastia is, what causes it, and whether surgery is actually the right solution for you. Ask questions about the procedure, recovery time, risks, and expected results. When I finally spoke to a specialist, I realized the process was much more straightforward and safe than I had imagined.
Also, choose a qualified and experienced surgeon who makes you feel comfortable and heard. Feeling supported throughout the journey makes a huge difference. For me, gathering information first removed a lot of fear. Once I understood my options clearly, making the decision felt much easier and more empowering.
