Following the right skin care routine and being patient are important for helping the skin’s natural healing process after a chemical peel. The skin may look sensitive, dry, red, or uneven for a short time as the treated layers slowly fall off. Following the aftercare instructions given by a professional can help protect the new skin and make the healing process go more smoothly. Knowing what to expect after treatment can also help you feel better while you’re healing and get skin that looks healthier and more refreshed.
Chemical Peels In Dubai
Chemical Peels in Dubai can help improve the look and feel of your skin by getting rid of problems like dullness, uneven tone, pigmentation, acne scars, and other flaws on the surface. The skin goes through a natural renewal process after a chemical peel. The treated top layers slowly fall off, and new skin that looks healthier grows in their place. Depending on the type and strength of the treatment, your skin may become temporarily red, sensitive, dry, tight, or peeling during this time. Taking care of your skin properly after treatment is important for keeping it healthy and helping it heal. When it comes to cleansing, moisturizing, sun protection, and using skincare products, patients should do what their doctor tells them to do. Avoiding too much sun, picking at or peeling off the skin, and using irritating products can help keep irritation to a minimum. The skin may look smoother, brighter, and more refreshed as it heals. How you feel during recovery depends on the peel you choose, your skin type, and your reaction to it. Professional advice makes sure that the patient’s aftercare is right for their skin type and helps them get healthy, glowing results.
What Can I Expect After Chemical Peel?
Once the peeling begins, pain should no longer be a big problem for you. The skin typically feels as if it has been mildly burnt.
The top layer of the skin will become dark, dry out, and start to peel off within 2 to 3 days. After the treatment, it is not unusual to experience some mild drainage or oozing during the first few days. This will usually improve or resolve as the skin continues to heal.
Peeling will be done around days 4-6.
For best healing, keep your skin wet at all times the first week.
In 4-6 days, the new skin will be slightly pink. Use a commercial non-allergic moisturizer such as Cetaphil to keep your skin moist. If you’re going to be outside, wear sunscreen.

How Do I Care For Myself After A Chemical Peel?
Arrange for someone to take you to and from your treatment.
We strongly suggest you have someone stay with you the first night after your treatment, at least.
Be sure to fill your prescriptions before your treatment, as you will take some of the drugs before the procedure. You’ll get an antibiotic, an antiviral, and pain medications.
You should also buy the following materials before your treatment:
- A new box of CRISCO.
- Cetaphil face wash and Cetaphil moisturizer.
- Hibiclins shampoo and liquid soap.
- We shall give you tongue blades.
Wear loose, comfortable clothes for your treatment. Your top should be buttoned or zipped, not pulled over your head. Take drugs only as directed by the clinic.
Begin the antiviral the night before your treatment. Avoid taking medicines on an empty stomach after the treatment.
Begin taking your antibiotic after your peel and after your first meal.
If you will be having concomitant treatment with your chemical peel, you should avoid all aspirin and any anti-inflammatory agents for two weeks before and two weeks after your treatment.
If you just have a little discomfort, you can take simple Tylenol (acetaminophen). Not pain killers.
If you smoke, avoid all nicotine, including nicotine patches, for three weeks before and after treatment. Tobacco can restrict circulation and have a marked effect on your treatment result.
The night before treatment, wash your hair well with an antibacterial shampoo or soap such as Hibiclins, available in medicine stores.
Following the peel, the treated areas may blister and peel, usually within one to two days. It is very vital to maintain the treated areas continually moist; they should never dry and produce crusts. Day one, put CRISCO on the peel regions, keeping your skin wet all the time—generally three to four times a day. Use only the tongue blades for application. (Use your hands sparingly, as they can transfer bacteria to your face).
You could feel some itching as the treated skin heals, and this sensation is normal. It usually takes four to six days for this to happen. If the itching bothers you, take Zyrtec or Allegra. You can also take Benadryl to help with the itch (per product directions). Note that Benadryl induces sedation. In general it should not be taken with sleeping medications or pain pills. If you are unsure, ask your pharmacist. Patients often develop itchy symptoms at night when they are sleeping. The nails can scrape the healing skin, leaving marks and slowing down healing. You can reduce this difficulty by sleeping with heavy mittens (no individual finger pockets).
Sleep with your head raised for one to two weeks after the peel.
It is fairly uncommon to see whiteheads appearing on the treated areas between two weeks and two months after the procedure. These are actually milia. They are sites of new epithelium overlying the underlying glands. Gently scrub away and eliminate these. If you are having difficulty removing them, we will be pleased to help you in the clinic.
You should avoid excessive exercise and any considerable physical exertion, lifting, or straining for at least two weeks after your treatment. Plan to rest and avoid overdoing it.
Do not rub or massage your face until you have been inspected and told it is safe.
Do not wear make-up until your provider tells you that it is okay to do so. You will generally be able to cover the regions treated with make-up within 9 to 12 days. The skin will be completely resurfaced at this point (no weeping, blistering, or fractures in the skin).
You will discover that the treated areas are slightly harder to apply make-up on. They are indeed so silky that the make-up will often virtually slide off. If you have this trouble, we will recommend some products.
It is suggested not to use contact lenses for seven to ten days after the peeling procedure in the eye area.
Do not sunbathe and apply sunscreen with SPF 40+ for six months following the peeling procedure. Hyperpigmentation or over-darkening of the treated areas can occur due to sun exposure.
Usually it can be treated using pigment gels, albeit they can take some time to work. So stay clear of the sun. If you can. Wide-brimmed hats are also highly useful in this regard.
Your skin will be slightly red following the treatment. That’s to be expected. The redness will progressively decrease and start to revert to a more normal color about the second to third week after treatment. However, some residual pink or light red coloration may be present for five to ten weeks. It varies how long it will take for a full recovery to normal pigmentation. Folks with red hair or freckles will generally remain red for not much longer than other folks.
Do not use Retin-A, glycolic, or vitamin C preparations after treatment unless your provider tells you it is OK to do so. As a rule, you will want to resume this program again four to six weeks after treatment. This should be a gradual procedure. Start with the Retin-A first; use it alone for two weeks. Then, after two weeks, add the glycolic products. Finally, after another two weeks the vitamin C preparation is added. This skin care plan will improve your treatment results and help in the restoration of damaged skin.
Around two to three weeks following the treatment, you will see the treated skin looking smoother and younger in general. In a few months, the effects will begin to tighten the collagen in your skin, making it look even better.
Recovery Timetable
Approximate healing after chemical face-peeling is:
- Day Zero: Back home. The areas that are treated may enlarge and look pink to crimson.
- Day Two: Possible rain. Wash your hands completely before washing your face or use a fresh towel every time to wash your face gently with the soap of Cetaphil. Wash your hands. Begin peroxide soaks when the top layers of skin begin to peel off. Use the CRISCO with the tongue blades after you shower. Do these steps throughout the day to keep the skin areas wet.
- Days Two-Three: Skin will begin to darken and peel off. Don’t rip the skin off. Let it fall off naturally.
- Days Five To Seven: Peeling skin, practically everywhere. It may start to itch. Skin will appear slightly pink. Stop CRISCO and start Cetaphil moisturizer, or similar.
- Days Ten-Fourteen: The skin is often resurfaced at this stage. Makeup use is recommended by Dr. Perfect Celebrity.
- Weeks Six-Twelve: Your new skin will be sensitive, so make sure you use sunscreen and a hat if you are outside.
- Three Months: Enjoy your results and stay out of the sun. You need to go back to the Retin-A, the glycolic acid, and the Vitamin C preparation.
REMEMBER: If you have any inquiries or concerns, please call our clinic anytime. From your initial appointment through post-treatment care, our clinic should be a source of information and reassurance during this entire experience.
